NAON Approver Unit Electronic Application Instructions

Read these instructions carefully and thoroughly before beginning the process of submitting your Approver Unit Application via e-mail.

General Instructions

  1. These instructions apply only to the e-mail submission process.
  2. Once you have opened the Approver Unit Application, the step-by-step instructions below will assist you in submitting your application via e-mail.
  3. You will have to save the application attachment onto your computer’s hard drive, or onto a personal storage device (CD, FlashCard, diskette, etc.) in order to e-mail it to the National Office.
  4. DO NOT FAX OR MAIL THE APPLICATION YOU OBTAIN FROM THIS PAGE.
  5. Payment must either accompany or be sent ahead of your application in order for the application to be processed. No exceptions.
    Payment Options:
    1. Send check to NAON National Office.
    2. Call NAON National Office to give credit card payment over the phone.
    3. Pay on-line in the NAON eStore under Continuing Education. *Login to receive member discounts!

The review team must have at least 28 days from the postmark of your check or receipt of credit card payment for review of your program. Your Approver Unit Application will not be sent for review until payment is received either via check or credit card.

  1. How to save and complete the application form
    1. Click here to open Approver Unit Application.
    2. When you open this link, you will open the Approver Unit Application in addition to a set of additional forms that may apply to your submission. Additional single forms are available at the bottom of this page.
    3. This application will open as a Word document.
    4. Go to the “File” tab on the toolbar.
    5. When in the “File” tab, click on “Save As”. This will open a window that will allow you to pick the folder, or drive, to which you will save your application document, with a name of your choice. An example would be Chapter157Application.doc
    6. In the “Save As” window, there will be a “Save in:” drop-down box. Click on the drop-down box to choose where you would like to save your application.
    7. Once you have chosen a location for your file, enter a name (i.e. title) for your document in the “File name:” drop-down box.
    8. Click “Save”
    9. Your file is now saved by the name you typed in. It is stored in the location you specified.

  2. Sending the application to NAON for review.
    1. Complete the Approver Unit Application and those files in this application that apply to your submission.
    2. THE VESTED INTEREST FORM MUST BE FILLED OUT FOR ALL SPEAKERS AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS. NO EXCEPTIONS.
    3. Check the Guidelines for Continuing Education Development and Approval for details on which of the additional forms are necessary to fill out.
    4. Type information directly into the gray shaded areas on the form(s). These shaded areas will expand if needed to accommodate all information.
    5. Click on check boxes that apply using your mouse (or touch pad prompt). An “X” will automatically appear upon clicking the box. To un-check a box, click on the same box with your mouse or touch pad prompt.
    6. Complete all forms in the application that apply to your program.
    7. Click “Save” to make sure your completed forms are saved!
    8. Attach your completed and saved application file(s) to an e-mail message.
    9. In the Subject line of your e-mail message, enter “Approver Unit Application – chapter/provider name”.
    10. In the body of the e-mail, include:
        1. Provider
        2. Start date
        3. Chair contact information
    11. "Send" the email to the NAON National office at naon@smithbucklin.com.
    12. You will receive a confirmation e-mail within two business days that your application was received. If you do not receive this confirmation, please contact the NAON National Office.
    13. Contact NAON National office at: 800-289-6266 (or email at: naon@smithbucklin.com) with any questions.
