COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Describe the radiologic evaluation of a traumatic hip fracture.

Describe techniques for prevention of a traumatic hip fracture.

Distinguish key features of the bio mechanics of hip fracture fixation.
-
Demonstrate the set-up and handling of sophisticated stabilization and instrument systems on Sabine models for traumatic hip fracture management in the OR.
-
Explain intra-operative management of the traumatic hip fracture.
-
Determine the content and significance of patient education for the traumatic hip fracture patient, family, and other ongoing caregivers.
-
Compare pre and post-operative care strategies and their role in prevention of complications for the traumatic hip fracture patient.
