A new surgeon introduced the use of femerol nerve blocks for post operative pain in TKA and THA with good results. He got some of our older surgeons to use them as well. My staff quickly grasped the idea after an inservice from anesthesia. The issue now is establishing a Nursing Competency for the hospital.

I'd like to know what exists for a Femoral Nerve Block (Ropivicaine)nursing competency for inpatient joint replacements. Are dermatones used?

thanks
