NAON Foundation Update

The Foundation’s Wish List
Help the NAON Foundation celebrate its 15th anniversary! The NAON Foundation has a “wish list” of scholarships they would like to be able to offer to NAON members. Do you know an individual, corporation, organization or perhaps another Foundation that might be interested in supporting a scholarship? It is always helpful to have a personal contact assist in “opening the door” for the NAON Foundation by telling them who we are and encouraging them to support orthopaedic nursing care through the NAON Foundation. Provide the NAON Foundation with the contact information, and if a particular scholarship is of interest to them let them know that as well. Although full funding of a scholarship is the optimal level of giving, the Foundation appreciates all contributions especially in these difficult economic times; many small contributions can result in reaching the Foundation’s goals.

Here’s our “wishing for you” list:
• U.S. member to attend an international orthopaedic nursing conference
• International member to attend NAON’s annual conference
• NAON Courses at AAOS annual educational conference
• Leadership Development conference/program
• Academic scholarships for attaining Bachelors, Masters, Doctoral degrees or endowment of a named scholarship for a specific goal designated by the donor

In addition to scholarships, the Foundation would like to provide grants for nursing research/evidence based practice studies to enhance orthopaedic patient care.

NAON Foundation Reminders

The “Fill the Brick” competition between chapters is still underway. $50 purchases a “brick”; the chapter with the most bricks will win a gift at the end of the year. Collect change for your brick at each meeting and workshop and see how fast it grows!

NAON membership renewal time is rapidly approaching. When you renew your membership, please participate in the Foundation’s “$15 in 15” initiative by making a minimum of a $15 donation to the NAON Foundation. If you are renewing via NAON’s Web site you will need to either go to our Web site to make a donation or send a check to us.  For more information or questions about any of the items on our wish list or other initiatives you can contact the Foundation through our Web site naonfoundation.org or to Melinda Mock directly at melmock@bellsouth.net.

Happy New Year from the NAON Foundation Trustees!
