Applications for ONCs® recertifying in 2010 were mailed the first week of January. If you have not received your application, contact the ONCB® office as soon as possible to be sure a current address is in the data base.

Certification exams offered at AAOS and NAON Congress
Computer-based test at multiple sites in May, June
Paper-and-pencil exams will be offered at both the AAOS meeting (Tuesday, March 9, 2009; New Orleans) and the NAON Congress (Sunday, May 16, 2009; Seattle). Applicants must use the paper application available in the Candidate Handbook (downloaded from home page at www.oncb.org) for either of these examinations. Applications for the AAOS exams will be accepted from Dec. 1, 2009, through Feb. 5, 2010. Applications for the exams at NAON Congress will be accepted from March 1 through April 16, 2010. All applications must be received by the test vendor (address on application) by the final dates; there are no late application options.
Computer-based testing will be available at over 170 sites across the country in the months of May and June 2010. The application window for the computerized tests is Jan. 1 – March 31, 2010. Again, there are no late application options. Once they have applied and been cleared by the vendor, candidates will be able to schedule their exams based on available times at their most convenient test center. Applications for the computer-based tests can be completed online (www.goamp.com) or with the paper application from the Candidate Handbook. ONCB encourages candidates to use the ease of online application for these exams.

ONCB offers item-writing workshop at Seattle Congress
Looking for a unique volunteer opportunity? Current certificants (ONC®, OCNS-C®, and ONP-C®) can register to attend the item-writing workshop to be offered at the NAON Congress in Seattle on Sunday, May 16, 2009 (8 a.m. – 12 noon). You will receive instruction in writing multiple-choice questions for a standardized test, and then write draft items for the certification exams with coaching from members of the ONCB Test Committee. Registration will be limited for this free session, and contact hour credit will be provided; morning refreshments will be served to keep your brains working.
Item writing is a great way to volunteer with ONCB. In addition, only certificants with item-writing experience are eligible to serve on the ONCB Test Committee. Contact the ONCB with any questions about this session.
ONC® scrub jacket sales open this month
For the 2010 NAON Congress in Seattle, ONCB will offer a new product to showcase your prestigious ONC credential. Order forms and order deadline information will be available on the ONCB Web site by Jan. 15. Pre-Congress orders will be accepted, but only one order will be submitted to the vendor at the conclusion of NAON Congress. Orders also will be taken at the ONCB booth in the Seattle Exhibit Hall. All scrub jackets will be delivered by mid-July.
Standard sizes (S-L) will be available for $30, XL for $32, 2XL for $34, and 3XL for $36 in both male and female jackets. A $7 shipping and handling fee will be charged for each shirt.
