The NAON Chapter Advisory Team

By: Merry Dreier
SC NAON CAT Representative

Even if you consider yourself a DOG person, NAON CAT (Chapter Advisory Team) is here for you and your chapter.  Set up a number of years ago to assist members with issues in their chapters, the volunteer representatives from the 5 regions can be contacted anytime; we respond to emails and phone calls.

We can support your ideas for educational events – ideas for hot topics and meeting the needs of your members.
We can suggest alternatives for meeting the requirement of six contact hours of education per year (For example, one or two hour sessions versus one all-day session.)

We can even commiserate with you about attendance at your programs. We’ve all experienced that!!  Our advantage is that we communicate across the country via monthly conference calls with other CAT reps and elicit ideas to help resolve problems.
Some chapters do quite well getting a sponsor for a meal (think free food) at a restaurant for their program. Attendance is good and you learn and eat at the same time.

For chapter presidents, we can help you complete your chapter reports on time. We can direct you how to get the forms and submit them to your CAT rep and the National Office.

CAT has 1-2 representatives for each area:  Northeast, Southeast, North Central, South Central and West. Some of us have worked in this for awhile, but we are always looking for NEW people to get involved.  Could that be you? All it takes is availability for monthly conference calls, contacting your chapters regularly and a couple of reports. It is a great way to be involved in NAON, especially if you are not one to stand up in front of hundreds of people to speak at Congress. Get online at www.orthonurse.org to submit a Willingness to Serve form.  We would LOVE to have your join us.
