Call for Volunteers:  ONCB Seeks Ambassadors and Recertification Committee Members

Looking for a grassroots volunteer opportunity?  Serve ONCB as an Ambassador and promote orthopaedic nursing certification in your chapter or facility.  ONCB provides marketing materials and facilitates exchange of ideas for creative ways to encourage certification among your colleagues.  Submit a Willingness to Serve Form (www.oncb.org – “Download Forms” button) to ONCB (fax 803.356.6171; PO Box 87, Columbia, SC 29202).
Four new members are needed for ONCB’s Recertification Committee for three-year terms starting Jan. 1, 2010.  Candidates must hold current certification to qualify.  Members of the Recertification Committee review documents for randomly audited certificants.  Extensive orientation to the audit process is provided, including a year’s work with a committee mentor.  Interested?  Submit a Willingness to Serve Form (see above) to ONCB by Oct. 1, 2009.

ONCB Announces 2010 Scholarships

It's not too early to consider applying for the ONCB scholarships available to ONC exam candidates or recertifying ONCs. The application deadline is Jan. 1, 2010, and ONCB will notify winners no later than Feb. 15, 2010. Up to two exam scholarships and two recertification scholarships will be given; one exam scholarship may be given to a non-NAON member, but only NAON members are eligible for recertification awards.  Information and application are available on the ONCB Web site.  Choose the “About ONCB” tab and then “Scholarships & Awards” to print the application.
