I am a RNFA who recently went to work for an orthopedic surgeon who is wondering if it is within my scope to do shoulder and knee intra-articular injections in the OR and the office? Idaho St Board couldn't answer the question for me. Does anyone have and answer on this topic?

I don't believe you will find any authority giving direction one way or the other. I am an ONP-C and RNFA, practicing in IL. I did not receive any specialized training as a NP to give injections, but my docs showed me how and I have been giving them every since. Its all about scope of practice and that is a very grey area for providers. Especially in nursing. There is a lot left up to interpretation. Unfortunately, not everything gets interpreted until the lawyers do it for the first time and you are left to defend your practice.
