We are in the process of making our program a Center of Excellence. I have a question re: 4 performance measures that you must select to report on, what have other programs selected?
Also how do you identify patients that are not appropriate for joint replacement? Do your physicians have a policy for this?

I don't believe our physicians remove anyone from the total joint replacement unless they are not medically cleared. We have had Joint Commission Certification in Total HIp and Total Knee since June 2010. The performance measures we are using are antibiotics stopped within 24 hours of end of surgery time, falls prevention, constipation prevention and functionality measurement pre and post op. Others use things like SCIP measures, pain management, patient satisfaction and others.

Linda-
What are you using or did use for functionality measurement? Have you utilized the WOMAC scale at all? If so where did this get completed at?
