I have been an "other" for several years now because knee injuries have me sidelined from the bedside ortho duties that I did for 25 years. Now I work in quality and Risk Management. Until COVID struck. I expected to have to go back to bedside care to help with the pandemic. As we waited for the surge that did not come, I have been laid off to half time. With my extra time, I have been crocheting prayer squares to help support colleagues and fellow parishioners of my church. I've been sewing cloth masks reinforced with surgical tray wrap because we expected a shortage of masks and these are washable and can be reused. So I have been sidelined but not without support for my colleagues.
