Track: Podium: Clinical Practice

Session Number: S407
Date: Tue, Jun 2nd, 2020
Time: 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM

Description:

In the United States (U.S.), musculoskeletal conditions is a leading causes of disability and is the number one reason people visit the physician for treatment (USBJI, 2019). Hip and knee replacements are the most common inpatient surgery for Medicare beneficiaries (CMS, 2019). Orthopaedic nurses lack the knowledge connecting regulatory requirements, hospitals and physician practices face providing care to patients. The documentation in the EHR informs practice on quality and interoperability measures and are reportable to a number of agencies including The Joint Commission, NDNQI, and CMS. By gaining understanding of what measures lead to financial risk for providers will help nurses meet current standards required by value based care.
