Case Study-- 5/15/2012:  The patient is a 54 year-old male who fell down a flight of stairs 3 days ago. He has had pain in his left wrist and some mild swelling and presented to the ED 3 days after injury. He has pain over the carpal bones on the dorsal side just distal to the ulnar styloid. He is neurovascularly intact, normal sensation, normal pulses. AP/LAT x-rays of the left wrist were obtained in the ED. This type of fracture is best seen on the lateral x-ray of the wrist.
