Orthopaedic Nurses Week | October 26 - 30, 2026

October 30th is International Orthopaedic Nurses Day, but why celebrate just one day? Every year, we are thrilled to see all of the different ways NAON members share their passion for orthopaedics and showcase the ways you make an impact on a daily basis. 

Weekly Celebration Activities

Make it a week to remember! Whether you're celebrating your entire unit or simply recognizing a colleague, there are plenty of ways to participate. Choose an activity for each day or create your own celebration using resources in our free Celebration Toolkit.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 26 – Celebrate Orthopaedic Nursing. Kick off Orthopaedic Nurses Week by celebrating what makes you proud to be an orthopaedic nurse! Decorate your unit or breakroom, take a team photo, or share a video about why you love being an orthopaedic nurse. Post your celebration on social media using #OrthoNursesWeek and #IAMANORTHONURSE.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27 – Learn Something New. Celebrate the knowledge and expertise that make orthopaedic nursing unique. Challenge your team with an Orthopaedic Bingo card or take a few minutes to explore an area of orthopaedic nursing you'd like to strengthen. Browse the NAON Education Catalog to find education that matches your interests and professional needs. 

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28 – Learn Together. Turn education into a team activity! Host a webinar watch party with your team, and don’t forget the snacks! Check out one of NAON’s recorded webinars so your team can participate whenever your schedules allow.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29 – Recognize & Celebrate. Take a moment to recognize the people who make your orthopaedic team stronger. Give a Peer Recognition Card to a coworker or distribute a Proud Orthopaedic Nurse Certificate. You can also do something as simple as recognizing or encouraging someone during huddle!

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30 – Say Thanks. Close out Orthopaedic Nurses Week by saying thank you to the people who make a difference every day. Write a personalized Thank You Card, ask your administration or other team leaders to add a message of appreciation, recognize someone who made a difference during the week, and share your week-long celebration on social media. In the spirit of saying thanks, consider treating an orthopaedic nurse or team member to a NAON-themed gift from the NAON CafePress Online Store.
