ONCB Connection – July 2023

Need categorization for a local workshop?

If your hospital or NAON chapter is planning a workshop, make ONCB part of the event. ONCB can review the content outline for your educational program and provide a categorization statement (hours in Category A or B) for your publicity and CE certificate. Your attendees will never need to provide additional documentation for the event as they recertify. For activities with less than five contact hours, the evaluation fee is $30. For activities with five or more contact hours, the evaluation fee is $60. Contact ONCB by email or phone (888-561-6622) with any questions about this process. Please note ONCB is not an approver of continuing nursing education.

Remember…there are now more options in continuing education

ONCB accepts limited amounts of continuing medical education (CME) credit, as well as credit from approved providers of pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and social work continuing education. A detailed table is available on the ONCB web site https://www.oncb.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/ONCB-Summary-Recertification-by-Continuing-Education-071220.pdf. Use it for your own reference, or post it in your workplace to help other certified orthopaedic nurses answer questions about appropriate activities for recertification.

Add Your Digital Badge to your LinkedIn or Email Today!

We know you work hard to enhance your professional capabilities as a registered nurse. Your orthopaedic certification through ONCB is an important part of that continued development. With this in mind, we want to make sure you are recognized for your accomplishments in a way that allows you to fully showcase your ongoing professional commitment. In today’s digital world, that means providing a way for you to share your verified credentials and experiences in a secure electronic format. Digital badges are provided free of charge to all nurses upon initial certification and recertification of their credential.

Digital badges are portable digital icons that verify your orthopaedic certification credential. They are unique in that they are embedded with qualifying information, or metadata, that helps you maintain a digital record of your certification for use with employers or on professional sites such as LinkedIn. Digital badges are stored in a universal cloud-based portfolio so they can be easily accessed and shared with employers and peers, on digital resumes, email signatures, or social networking sites. The digital badge also provides the important functionality for certificants to access their certificate. Certificates can be printed whenever a copy is needed for employers, potential employers, or other professional contacts.

If you are a LinkedIn user, you can add your credential to your LinkedIn profile now! You may be prompted to sign in to LinkedIn. You will be automatically asked to submit the following details to add your badge:
