Apply Now for One of ONCB’s Scholarships
- NAON and ONCB Exam Prep Scholarship: This jointly sponsored scholarship provides preparation materials for ONC and ONP-C orthopaedic nursing certification applicants. To promote the value of certification and NAON membership, awards are available only to non-certified NAON members. Applications must be received by October 31, 2025.
- Exam and Recertification Scholarships: This scholarship encourages nurses to seek and retain their certification in othopaedics. If you are planning to test or recertify in 2026, consider applying for this scholarship by December 31, 2025.
- ONCB Dottie Roberts Excellence in Certification Scholarship: In 2020, Dottie Roberts retired as Executive Director of ONCB. Dottie’s vast knowledge and dedicated service exemplify excellence in all facets of certification. Dottie held the orthopaedic certification credential since 1995, so this scholarship celebrates and promotes continued commitment to recertification. Eligible recipients must be recertifying for at least the second time. The scholarship recipient will receive a free recertification. If you are planning to recertify in 2026, consider applying for this scholarship by December 31, 2025.

Need categorization for a local workshop?
If your hospital or NAON chapter is planning a workshop, make ONCB part of the event. ONCB can review the content outline for your educational program and provide a categorization statement (hours in Category A or B) for your publicity and CE certificate. Your attendees will never need to provide additional documentation for the event as they recertify. Learn more and submit your course by visiting the ONCB website.
Volunteer with ONCB
Support orthopaedic nursing certification by volunteering with ONCB! ONCB is looking volunteers to fill roles on the Recertification Committee, the Exam Prep Committee, and the Test Committee. Applicants must be ONC®, ONP-C®, OCNS-C®, or ONC-A™ certified to be eligible for volunteer roles. Learn more about ONCB volunteer opportunities and apply on the ONCB website.

NAON Foundation

The Gigi Viellion Scholarship
Purpose
To advance orthopaedic nursing practice through the integration of evidence-based knowledge into practice. This scholarship is in honor of Gigi Viellion for her long time commitment to orthopaedic nursing, NAON, and the NAON Foundation.
Scholarship
The Scholarship provides $ 1500 -2000 for an Orthopaedic Evidence-Based Practice Project that will benefit Orthopaedic nursing. The Scholarship will cover potential project costs of supplies and project conduction, staff, and statistical analysis. The amount of the Scholarship will be based on needed funding for the project along with other sources of funding identified.
Eligibility
- Must be a NAON member
- Must have a minimum of 3 years in orthopaedic nursing practice
- Must have a minimum of a BSN (required) but a Master’s in nursing preferred
- Must have demonstrated leadership responsibilities for evidence-based practice
- Must select orthopaedic related EBP topic/project
Expectation of Recipients
As a condition of receiving this scholarship it is required, that within 18 months the candidate will contribute to NAON in one of the following ways.
- Present a session at a NAON Congress sharing the EBP project.
- Submit an article on the EBP project for publication in Orthopaedic Nursing.
- Present a poster at a NAON Congress sharing the EBP project
One of the NAON Foundation Trustees will be assigned to support and encourage the candidate through the completion of this requirement.
