Webinar - Career Advancement Fatigue

1.0 CNE, Category B

Presenter: Jennifer Traverse, RN, ONC

Target Audience: Nurses and related healthcare providers in any care setting

Description: The current landscape of nursing is marked by a significant practice gap between traditional, loyalty-based career models and the evolving demands of modern healthcare. This gap is driven by increasing workforce stratification, role ambiguity, and the need for greater versatility and agility among nurses. Rigid organizational structures, competency and education gaps, and persistent reliance on non-evidence-based practices further exacerbate this divide. As a result, nurses face heightened risk of burnout, reduced job satisfaction, and increased turnover, particularly among newer generations and advanced practice providers. There is an urgent need for nurse leaders to move beyond hierarchical leadership and inflexible career pathways, and instead foster supportive, adaptable environments that prioritize individualized professional development, evidence-based practice, and sustainable career advancement. Addressing this practice gap is essential to optimize nurse retention, well-being, and the delivery of high-quality patient care.
