Spring Renewal
It’s May and spring begins! It is a time of blossoms outside, and can be a time of renewal for us too! The health nurse at Healthy Nation for ANA provides many suggestions for improving anyone's quality of life. There is no one-size-fits-all solution, and a good quality of life can look different for everyone.
Here are some tips:
- Nature- reconnect, go for a walk
- You can be social, but it is ok to say no when you need
- Connect with someone you love or the most important person
- Develop a new hobby or skill you enjoy
- Prioritize quality sleep- regulates hormones, mood, and energy
- Healthy, balanced diet- fruit, vegetables, minimize processed foods
- Avoid deprivation- enjoy food without being strict, health balance
- Drink water- carry water during the day in a reusable bottle
- Sun- enjoy some Vitamin D outside each day
- Move your body every day- strengthen muscles, morning walk
- Easy on the alcohol- everything in moderation
- Be present, focus on here and now
- Meditate- guided for 10minutes, listen to sounds around you, or watch thoughts “float” by
- Plan your time- avoid overscheduling, structure and routine can be helpful, plan downtime
- Transform living space- organize, donate unnecessary stuff that may be weighing you down
- Practice gratitude- make a “thankful” list
- Laugh- watch a funny movie or join friends for a giggle, laughing lowers stress level
- Get away- a change of scenery can be a stimulant for the mind
- Be true to yourself- listen to your gut
- Minimize social media- comparing yourself or worrying about others can decrease quality of life
Hopefully, one of these tips was of interest and sparked improvement in your quality of life!
